Frequently Asked Questions
A Dj is a Dj right?
As with everything in life there are good and there are bad. Unfortunately with a disco price isn't always a sign of quality...but if you are getting quotes in the hundreds and then a guy offers to do it for £80 you need to ask yourself why.
What are "Sixty Quid Sids"?
These are part-time Djs who see discos as an easy way to make a bit of beer-money on the side. Not all Sixty Quid Sids will do a bad job, but the vast majority will turn up without insurance, cheap kit and are not the most reliable of Djs...if they find they can earn more money somewhere else on the night they are booked for you invariably they will take the second booking without a moment's hesitation.
So how do I know if I am getting a good Dj?
Choosing a Dj is a difficult task as you cannot try our services on as you did with your dress, or taste our offerings as you did when selecting the food you will be serving your guests. The best thing you can do is to read reviews and actually speak to the Dj.
Do I let the venue book my Dj?
Personally, I would advise NO! Many hotels and venues use agency Djs. This is where the agent takes the price of the disco for himself and then subs out the work to other Djs so you will not know who you will be turning up on the day. For example the hotels says the disco is £350, they pay this to the agent who then pays someone else £150 to do your disco; so basically you are only getting a Dj that would have cost you £150 but are paying £350 for the privilege.
